Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of issues relating to professional development of orthopaedic and trauma practitioners alongside the vital role of mentorship and reflective practice. Ongoing professional development is essential for the delivery of high quality, evidenceā€based orthopaedic and trauma nursing practice. Specialist orthopaedic and trauma competences will be discussed and the need for specialist knowledge and skills will be explored. A robust system of mentorship is necessary to support the development of all practitioners in orthopaedic and trauma care.
