Abstract
Nurses working as advanced nurse practitioners, or those aspiring to this role, are required to understand how to communicate effectively and on a collaborative basis with patients and carers during consultations, with the aim of enhancing positive outcomes such as improved patient satisfaction and enablement. This article explores collaborative communication during consultations, including the optimal approach and the challenges for advanced nurse practitioners to use when communicating with patients.
