Abstract
Given the critical strain on the healthcare workforce, many experts believe that Artificial Intelligence (AI), could play a pivotal role in addressing these challenges. However, despite the promising opportunities that AI offers in healthcare, these opportunities remain largely untapped, and there are significant obstacles hindering their widespread implementation. This research explores the impact of leadership and management on the incorporation of AI in healthcare services, highlighting the challenges and strategies for effective adoption as well as the essential foresight needed for future advancements in healthcare. This paper identifies the multifaceted challenges encountered by healthcare providers, such as ethical considerations, data privacy, and the need for substantial investment in infrastructure and workforce upskilling. Furthermore, the paper emphasises the strategic approaches necessary for harnessing AI’s potential, including effective planning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensuring rigorous evaluation and validation of AI tools. Additionally, the paper discusses the importance of visionary foresight among healthcare leaders to anticipate and guide the evolution of AI, preparing for its implications and ensuring it complements rather than replaces human providers. Through this analysis, the paper underscores how proactive management and forward-thinking leadership are indispensable for the technological transformation of healthcare sector, ultimately leading to enhanced clinical outcomes and improved healthcare service delivery.
